Why I'm Doing This

I spent years as an actuary, which means I got really good at a few specific things: analyzing complex systems, transforming raw data into meaningful insights, solving problems that at first seemed impossible, all while thinking through unintended consequences. It's detail-oriented work that requires seeing both the big picture and the small pieces at the same time.

When ChatGPT and Claude came out a few years ago, I started experimenting immediately with them for my own work. They were useful for everyday business problems. I could draft documents faster, analyze data more efficiently, and automate repetitive tasks that used to eat up hours of my week.

But here's what I noticed: most of the AI conversation is happening in tech circles. Small business owners—the people who could benefit most from these tools—are getting left behind. Not because they're not interested, but because they don't have time to wade through the hype and figure out what actually works.

That's why I started Hovercraft AI Services. I'm at the beginning of this journey, learning deeply about AI tools so I can help real business owners solve real problems. Being early means I'm hands-on, accessible, and genuinely invested in figuring out what actually works—not just selling solutions.

Professional Experience: Actuary at a top actuarial consulting firm for 10 years.

A few relevant projects:

Developed a Microsoft Power BI dashboard for Medicare doctor performance analysis, turning billions of raw claims data into actionable insights to support strategic decisions.
Helped automate detailed actuarial rate filings, allowing client to nimbly adapt and respond to regulators in dozens of states much more efficiently.
Built several robust underwriting and sales tools combining many data sources to set prices, report on market intelligence, and highlight trends, risks, and opportunities.
